Welcome to my humble site and thank you for taking a peek! I am an artist and educator returned home to Colorado after 9 years of life immersive experiences teaching abroad in Turkey, South America, and Mongolia. From my recent voyage to Mongolia, I furthered my love for felt making, learning techniques from local artists.
Works exhibited here focus on wet felted paintings that seek to harness the soft yet wild quality of natural fibers. Resulting images are a balance of technical exactitude and acquiescing to that spontaneous lock or fiber squiggle that results from the wet felting process. For those new to felt, it is humanity's earliest textile. Wet felting is a process that involves taking raw fibers and applying hot water, soap, and agitation to knit or felt the fibers together.
